(In terms of pi )what's the surface area of a cylinder with a 14cm diameter and a heigth of 18cm.

ive done the math and got 1099 or something but that isnt one of the options on my assignment.

Explanation:

The surface area of a cylinder is found by using the formula

SA=2πrh+2πr^2

We know the diameter. To find the radius, we take the diameter and divide by 2.

r =d/2

r =14 cm/2 = 7 cm

h = 18 cm

Substituting what we know

SA = 2 * pi * 18 * 7 + 2 * pi * (7)^2

= 252 *pi + 2* pi *49

= 252 pi + 98 pi

= 350 * pi

Let pi be approximated by 3.14

SA = 350 * 3.14

= 1099 cm^2
