There are two ways of looking at this question. You can do it algebraically or you can make a graph that will give you the answer visually.

Graph

I'll try to do both. First the graph. (See below)

  • The red line is f(x)
  • The blue line is g(x)

The graph tells us that the line is shifted

  • 2 units up (blue is above red) and
  • 3 units to the left (blue is to the left of red)

Algebra.

g(x) = 2^[(x - 1) + 3] + 3 (+ 2)

The rewrite shows that +3 means left. +2 means up.
