We must find the common denominator.

The list of multiples of 4: 0, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, ...

The list of multiples of 3: 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, ...

The common denominator is 12.

(3)/(4)=(3\cdot3)/(4\cdot3)=(9)/(12)\\\\(2)/(3)=(2\cdot4)/(3\cdot4)=(8)/(12)

Therefore:

(3)/(4)+(2)/(3)=(9)/(12)+(8)/(12)=(9+8)/(12)=(17)/(12)=(12+5)/(12)=1(5)/(12)

Answer: 17/12 = 1 5/12
