Say if you have 5^2 it wouldn't be 10 it would be 25 . You multiple that number by itself however many times the exponent up there says

To start, powers & exponents are the same thing... Anyways, here are some examples:

  • 10^2 (In word translation, it would be 10 to the power of 2):

If you wanted to make it more easier for you, you can put the problem like this:

10 x 10

That would equal 100

  • 5^6 (In word translation, it would be 5 to the power of 6):

If you wanted to make it more easier for you, you can put the problem like this:

5 x 5 x 5 x 5 x 5 x 5

That would equal 15,625

Most people think it's 10 TIMES 2 or 5 TIMES 6...No, it's not.. When it says the power to *blank,* that's saying how many times you have to multiply it... I don't know if I make since, but I hope I do.... If you need more explaining, I could help you!!!! :)
