Why did Precident Franklin D. Roosevelt establish social security?

The President Franklin D. Roosevelt sang in to law the Social Security Act in 1935. It was a historical act which guaranteed an income for the unemployed and retires.

The principal reason to establish social security was to combat unemployed. The Social Security System has remained relatively unchanged since 1935.
