Hi :)
Many Americans view the Victorian era as traditional and prudish, due to the way women are portrayed in the novels and the common themes of marriage and social classes. Nevertheless, in texts such as, Pride and Prejuice, it can be seen the way that authors introduces and presents women is not a traditional one. The women are shown to be active characters, self-enough, and capable of thinking for themselves, despite of society's idea that women are merely objects for betrothal and that they don't know anything.
