The use of large quantities of coal in brick kilns contributes significantly to emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), particulate matter (PM), including black carbon (BC), sulphur dioxide (SO2), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), and carbon monoxide (CO) in the form of smoke, fumes, soot and ash.
