4. Since, A≡ (-7,0) and B≡ (5,0)

Thus, By the distance formula,


AB = √((5-(-2))^2+ (0-0)^2)


AB = √((5+2)^2+ (0)^2)


AB = √((7)^2+ (0)^2)


AB = √(49+0)


AB = √(49)

⇒ AB = 7 unit

5. Here EF = 9x + 14, FG = 56 and EG= 250

But, According to the given diagram,

EF + FG = EG ( because G divides the line EG )

⇒ 9x + 14 + 56 = 250

⇒ 9x + 70 = 250

⇒ 9x = 250 - 70 ( By subtracting both sides by 70)

⇒ 9x = 180

⇒ x = 20 ( by dividing both sides by 9 )

Thus, the value of x is 20.
