To solve for the area of a triangle we use the formula
(1)/(2) bh

(or base*height divided by 2)


First I solved for the area of the blue triangle.

The base is 12 inches and the height is 10 inches.


(1)/(2) * 12 * 10 equals 60 inches².

For the orange triangle the base is 8 inches and the height is 10 inches.


(1)/(2) * 8 * 10 equals 40 inches².

60in² + 40in² = 100in²
