Volume = length * height * width

Volume (pencil section) = 19 * 29 * 30 = 16530 m^3

Volume (box of pencils) = 10 * 6 * 4 = 240 m^3

To find how many boxes of pencils would fit in the pencil section you divide the Volume of the pencil section by the Volume of a box of pencils:

16530 / 240 =68.875

Since this is a physical object that we can't have half of then we round down since we guaranteed have 68 boxes and not 69.

The question is not asking how many boxes of pencils can the section of the school hold but rather how many individual pencils so we have to account for that.

We have 68 boxes and each one holds 100 pencils:

68 * 100 = 6800 pencils
