x = 1

Explanation:

If y=3x and x=2y-5

The value of y is 3x

so we can plug that in for the value of y in the other equation

x = 2y - 5

x = 2(3x) -5

x = 6x - 5

x-6x = 6x - 5 - 6x

-5x = -5

-5x/-5 = -5/-5

x = 1
