let one acute angle be x then the other is 2x + 48

Their sum is 90 , hence

x + 2x + 48 = 90

3x + 48 = 90 ( subtract 48 from both sides )

3x = 42 ( divide both sides by 3 )

x = 14

the 2 acute angles are x = 14° and (2 × 14 ) + 48 = 28 + 48 = 76°
