When you multiply a number with an exponent by a number with an exponent, you add the exponents together.

For example:

x^(2) *x^(3) =x^(2+3)=x^5

y^(1) (y^3)=y^(1+3)=y^4

2^2*2^3=2^(2+3)=2^5

When an exponent is negative, you move it to the other side of the fraction to make the exponent positive

For example:

x^(-2) or
(x^(-2))/(1)=(1)/(x^2)

(1)/(y^(-3))=(y^3)/(1) or y³

So:

4^3*4^(-5)=4^(3+(-5))=4^(-2)

4^(-2)=(1)/(4^2)=(1)/(16)=0.0625

a.) correct
