Explanation:

To make the line parallel, we need the same slope as the line. Because it is in slope-intercept form, we know that the slope, or
m, equals -2.

Also, because we have the point that it passes through, we have enough information to put the values into point-slope form, which is:


y-y_(1)=m(x-x_(1))

y + 5 = -2(x + 10)

The reason I made the subtraction signs to addition signs is because a negative times a negative equals a positive.
