Chantal went to the county fair with $42.50. She bought a corndog and lemonade for $11.25. She wants to use the rest of the money to buy tickets, which cost $1.75 each. What is the maximum number of tickets she can buy?

Answer:

17 tickets

Explanation:

So Chantal has 42.50 dollars and she buys a corn dog and lemonade for 11.25 dollars

42.50-11.25= 31.25

She is loosing money. That why we are subtracting

Now the tickets cost 1.75 dollars. So she is going to loose money

31.25/1.75=17

Because is she could by 17 tickets with the money leftover after she bought a corn dog and lemonade

You can also subtract 31.25 by 1.75 17 times to get your answer too.
