It took so long to ratify the Articles of Confederation because most of the states wanted ratification to the Confederation, but Congress denied their requests. People thought that the money they spent on the military would go to waste, they wanted their rights to be protected. In order for it to be ratified, all states must accept.
The Stamp Act was passed by the British Parliament on March 22, 1765. The Stamp Act required American Colonist to pay tax on every piece of paper they used. For example, Ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were taxed.
In 1774, the First Continental Congress (TFCC) sent a petition to King George saying if it wasn't for the acts of oppression forced on the colonies by the British Parliament, all of the people of America would stand behind the British rule, and America wouldn't be independent.
