Jupiter has 11 more than 4 times as many moons has Neptune. Neptune has 14 moons. Let j equal the number of moons Jupiter has.

Let j be the number of moons Jupiter has and n be the number of moons Neptune has.

As per the given statement: Jupiter has 11 more than 4 times as many moons has Neptune.

"4 times as many moons has Neptune" means 4n

"11 more than 4 times as many moons has Neptune" means 4n+11

Then we have;

j = 4n + 11 ......[1]

It is also given that Neptune has 14 moons.

n = 14 moons

Substitute the value of n in [1] we have;


j = 4(14) + 11

j = 56 + 11

Simplify:

j = 67 moons.

Therefore, the number of moons Jupiter has 67 and the number of moons Neptune has 14.
