Margaret goes to the county fair with $35. Rides cost $3 each. Write an equation that gives the amount of money m that Margaret has as a function of the number of rides r that she takes.

I got the answer of 11, as I:

-First, I worked out how many rides Margaret would be able to go on, so I did $35 -/- $3, which was a decimal, but the most amount of times would be 11 rides that she could go on, therefore, that's the amount of rides she would take, and have $2 left over.

Let she can take number of rides = r

The cost of rides = 3r

She has $35 so the equation will be

3r = 35

r =
(35)/(3)

r =
11(2)/(3)

Therefore she can take 11 rides. She spent on 11 rides 11 × 3 = $33.00

So she has left $2.00 with her.
