The humpback whale can be seen off the coast of Alaska during the summer months, but is found as far south as California and Hawaii during the winter. Why would the humpback whale most likely spend the summer months off the coast of Alaska?

They feed on fish that live in the deepest parts of the ocean during the winter.

They have greater access to food in northern regions during the summer.

They must give birth in colder regions than those in which they feed.

They must return to the same region to breed, whether in the south or in the north.

Hi there!

The humpback whales live in cold waters, so in the summer time they can be seen off the coasts of Alaska. They also go there because they have greater access to food in northern regions during the summer.

Hope this helped!~
