Why did the mayflower compact such an important document in early america history

The significance of the Mayflower Compact is illustrated as it was the first democratic government to be established in the colonies - The colonists agreed to choose their leaders and make their own laws which they agreed to follow. Basically they decided they wanted to be sort of independent and have the right of like electing leaders

Because we can say that it was like the first constitution of the USA. It was signed aboard ship on November 11th, 1620. It was signed by male puritans that were fleeing from religious persecution by king James of England. A constitution is also a compact.
