Ranee is building a birdcage for her parrot in the shape of a square pyramid. The height of the birdcage is 0.5 meters and it has a volume of 0.5625 cubic meters. She decides to increase the height to 1.5 meters, leaving the base the same. What is the maximum number of cubic meters in the new birdcage.

Volume of bird cage = Area of base square x height

height = 0.5 m, and volume =0.5625 cubic metres

Hence 0.5625=0.5xArea of base square

Area of base square=0.5625/0.5 =0.1125

NOw when height become 1.5 m, new volume would be

Area of base square x new height

0.1125(1.5) = 1.6875 cubic metres.
