Answer:

The ratio of the white fabric to the colored fabric is
(20)/(9) in its simplest form

Explanation:

The ratio indicates how many times one number contains another

The ratio can be written as:

  • A fraction
    (a)/(b)
  • a : b
  • a to b

The two terms of the ratio must have the same units

∵ Sarah uses 9 mm of colored fabric to make her curtains

∵ She also uses 2 cm of of white fabric

- To express the amount of white fabric to colored fabric as a ratio

you must change the centimeter to millimeter because the

terms of ratio must have the same unit

∵ 1 centimeter = 10 millimeters

∴ 2 centimeters = 2 × 10 = 20 millimeters

∴ She uses 20 millimeters of the white fabric

Now write the ratio between the white fabric and the colored fabric

→ White : colored

→ 20 : 9

∵ 20 and 9 do not have a common factor

∴ The simplest form of the ratio is 20 : 9

The ratio of the white fabric to the colored fabric is
(20)/(9) in its simplest form
