The most significant change from the Articles of Confederation to the United States Constitution was the introduction of a federal government. The Constitution created a stronger central government with more power than the Articles of Confederation had granted. The federal government would have the power to tax, regulate interstate commerce, and raise an army. This change was necessary in order to unify the states and create a more effective government.
