It is possible to say that three of the statements are true: 1. The Union fought to control Savannah's Port, 2. The battle was the first major battle of the war in Georgia, and 3. The Union captured the Forth.
This battle was fought because between the Confederation that controlled the Fort and the Union that had intentions of reaching the Savanna's Port and, in general, of controlling the surroundings of the the Savanna River. Taking place on April 10th and April 11th 1862, it is considered as the first battle in this State (Fort McAllister I, and Chickamagua, both in 1863 the second and the third). Finally, the battle result was a Union victory.
