The gentrification process causes the increasing attraction to an area, and this way causes people with higher incomes to the higher costs of the neighborhood. This usually causes community displacement for low-income families, because property values and rental costs rise. This fails to increase the dialogue between new white residents and former black residents because the old residents see the new ones as the cause of their problems with higher costs.
