Explanation:

x+y=45


L=2l


Big Square Area


L*L=x


Little Square

l*l=y



Substituting

(L*L)+(l*l)=45

(2l*2l)+(l*l)=45

(4l^2)+(l^2)=45

5l^2=45

l^2=45/5

l^2=9

l=sqrt(9)

l=3

L=2(3)

L=6
