the absolute value |x| of a real number x is the non-negative value of x without regard to its sign.

|x| = x for x ≥ 0.

|x| = -x for x < 0.

Examples:

|2| = 2

|-5| = -(-5) = 5

If is -8 × |12| = -8 × 12 = -96

If is 8 × |12| = 8 × 12 = 96

Answer:

-96 or 96

Explanation:

this is because the distance from zero is twelve, so it could be -12 or 12, plug both into the problem and then solve.
