The ticket sales at a movie theater were $5,088. Adult tickets were $13, and senior tickets are $22. The number of senior tickets was 32 less than twice the number of adult tickets. Determine the number of adult tickets and senior tickets sold.

Let us assume the number of adult ticket be x

And, the number of senior tickets be y

Now the first equation is

13x + 22x = $5,088

And, the second equation is

y = 2x - 32

Now put the y value in the first equation

13x + 22 × (2x - 32) = $5,088

13x + 44x - 704 = $5,088

57x = $5,088 + $704

57x = $5,792

x = 102

Now the y value is

= 2 (102) - 32

= 172

Hence, the number of adult tickets and senior tickets sold is 102 and 172 respectively
