At Silver Gym, membership is $25 per month and personal training sessions are $30 each. At Fit Factor membership is $65 per month and personal training sessions are $20 each. In one month how many personal training sessions would Sarah have to but to make the total cost at the two gyms equal?

You would first create 2 expressions, one to represent each situation

Silver Gym: 25 + 30x

Fit Factor: 65 + 20x

Then if you want to find when the costs would equal each other, set them equal to each other.

25 + 30x = 65 + 20x

Then solve:

25 + 30x - 20x = 65 + 20x - 20x

25 + 10x = 65

25 - 25 + 10x = 65 -25

10x = 40

10x / 10 = 40 / 10

x = 4

She will have to attend 4 personal training sessions to make the total cost at the two gyms equal.
