The Science Club went on a two-day field trip. The first day the members paid $40 for transportation plus $14 per ticket to the planetarium. The second day they paid $85 for transportation plus $11 per ticket to the geology museum. Write an expression to represent the total cost in dollars for two days for the n members of the club.

Greetings!

Answer:

(40 + 14n) + (85 + 11n) = total

Explanation:

Two brackets must be needed as there are two days which both contain different calculations.

The first bracket must contain 40+ because that is the price of transportation and wont change. Then, if there are n members that each cost 14 then we can show this by 14n (14 * n)

40 + 14n

Second bracket must contain +85 because that is a variable that wont change. Then if there are n members that each cost 11 then this can be shown by 11n (11 * n)

85 + 11n

Now, put brackets over both and add them together:

(40 + 14n) + (85 + 11n) = total

Which is the expression!

Hope this helps!
