Explanation: Today, the Philippines is classified as Asian and is part of Southeast Asian. But to address them as Pacific Islanders isn’t exactly wrong... For a very long time and even today, Filipinos are known as Pacific Islanders. I address myself as a Pacific Islander and I too was very confused when one of my Hawaiian friends told me that I was not considered a Pacific Islander. After doing a bit more research, it turns out I’m kinda both! Isn’t that neat?
