The main conflict in this short story is that the Balek family had been unfair with the villagers. The Balek were economically well-off and well-educated ; that was why they were in charge of the villageĀ“s scale. Consequently, they took advantagen of this benefit and deceived the local people by weighing the spices badly.
The Balek family continued with this unfair treatment until one of the characters realized and discovered the truth.
