You need to multiply the number 1 with 6 because you need to eliminate the x to find y

When you find the y you can find x

Answer:

See below

Explanation:

x-4y=14 <==== multiply this equation by -6 to get '

-6x +24y=- 84 <====== now if we add this equation and the other one, 'x' will be 'eliminated '

-6x+24y = - 84

6x+5y = - 32

29y = - 116 so y = -4 use this value of y in any of the equations to solve for x
