The Speaker of the Georgia House (and the US House & most State Houses) is usually a member of the majority party as the majority party has, well, the majority in the House. So, they have a more powerful voting bloc to elect one of their own to the Speakership.

If the Majority party is fractured, then there is an opportunity for the minority party to propose a consensus pick but it is likely that the Speaker will most always come from the majority party.
