The climate of the northern Korean peninsula and the majority of New England are both termed to be within the continental climate designation. A continental climate is one with hot summers and cold winters, often marked by high snow fall in the winter. Both North Korea and New England have small areas with an Oceanic climate designation that is marked by cooler summers (due to cooling ocean air) and cool winters.
