Any number of negative emotions can overcome Wisdom.
Fear for example, has often led wise man and women to act unwisely. think of the Nazi holocaust. It would be unfair to say most German citizens were unwise to let it happen but if we factor fear into the equation it all makes more sense.
Sexual obssesion can also derail Wisdom. Think of the 'wise' king Solomon who sends one of his most loyal soldiers Uriah to the battle front our of his obsession with Batsheeba. He does this even though at the time he had hundreds of concubines and several wives at his disposal.
Monetary gain has also led many people to abandon wiser paths for the love of material things. Perhaps the best known documented case of this is Judas betraying Jesus for a measly 30 silver coins.
