A cotton candy vendor has 24 cones of blue cotton candy to sell. If the blue cotton candy is 75% of the total number of cones, how many total cotton candy cones does he have?

(75)/(100) comparing percent and
(24)/(x) comparing the 24 to the total number. We then set them equal.


(75)/(100) =(24)/(x)

We then cross multiply across the equal sign from numerator to the opposite numerator.

75(x)=24(100)

75x=2400

We divide to find x.

x=32.
