We want to find the common difference of the arithmetic sequence,



13, 16, 19, 22, 25, …

The common difference is the constant difference between any two consecutive terms.

Thus,


d=a_n-a_(n-1)


For instance the first and second term of the sequence has the difference,


d = 16 - 13 = 3


Or the third and the second term has the difference,



d = 19 - 16 = 3
Since this is an arithmetic sequence the difference is the same for any two consecutive terms.
