Three different sub-atomic particles are described below: Particle X: Uncharged Particle Y: Carries positive charge Particle Z: Orbits the nucleus Which statement is true? X is a neutron, Y is an electron, and Z is a proton. X is a neutron, Y is a proton, and Z is an electron. X is a proton, Y is an electron, and Z is a neutron. X is an electron, Y is a proton, and Z is a neutron.

Neutron is a subatomic particle found in the nucleus of an atom except in the nucleus of hydrogen. Since it does not have any charge and it is a neutral atom it is known as neutron. Neutron has a symbol n or
n^(0). The mass of single atom is
1.6*10^(-27),. Proton is also a subatomic particle found in the nucleus of an atom with the symbol p or
p^(+). Proton carries positive charge. Electron is the subatomic particle which revolves round the nucleus and it carries negative charge.

Therefore the answer is X is neutron since it is an uncharged particle Y is a proton since it carries positive charge and Z is an electron since it revolves round the nucleus or orbits the nucleus.

The statement which is true about the three sub atomic particles is

X is a neutron,Y is a protons and z is an electron

Step-by-step explanation

  • Atom has three sub atomic particles, that is neutrons, protons and electrons.
  • Neutrons have no electric charge, protons are positively charged while electrons are negatively charged.
  • Both neutrons and proton are located in the nucleus while electrons are located outside the nucleus.
  • since electrons are located outside the nucleus they orbit around the nucleus.
