A school cafeteria has 40 tables. 35% of the tables have 8 chairs at each table. The remaining 65% of the tables have 6 chairs at each table. Complete the model. Then complete the statements to find the total number of chairs in the cafeteria.

There are 268 chairs in the cafeteria.

Explanation:

Total no. of tables = 40

No. of tables with 8 chairs = 35% of 40 = 0.35*40 = 14

No. of tables with 6 chairs = 65% of 40 = 0.65*40 = 26

Total no. of chairs = (8 * 14) + (6 *26) = 112 + 156 = 268

∴ There are 268 chairs in the cafeteria.
