What is the main difference between a presidential system and a parliamentary system?

The main difference between a Presidential system and a party system is the manner in which the executive of the country is elected to office.

In a Presidential system, there is a President who is elected by the people. In a Parliamentary system, the elected official is usually a Prime Minister and is elected from the ranks of the legislature.
