Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer: 3/6 + 0*(1/4) + 1/3 = 20/24

Discussion:

My first thought was to convert all the number to use a denominator of 24:

3/6 = 12/24 (*)

1/4 = 6/24

1/3 = 8/24 (**)

Note that the sum of (*) and (**) gives 20/24:

3/6 + 1/3 = 12/24 + 8/24 = 20/24.

which is what we want. So what do we do about the 1/4 term? Hmmm... Let's multiply it by zero! Your teacher may not like this but the problem statement doesn't exclude it. Consider this:

3/6 + 0*(1/4) + 1/3 = 20/24

Thank you,

MrB
