l = 3w

Replace l in first equation with 3w.

8 = 2(3w + w)

Combine like terms.

8 = 2(4w)

Multiply.

8 = 8w

Divide both sides by 8.

w = 1

Replace the value of w with 1.

l = 3w

l = 3(1)

l = 3
