Tjar originally costs $12.00. It is marked 35% off. This means of the original price, you pay 65% of it since 100%-35%=65%.

To find the sale price, multiply the original price by 65%. In order to do that you must convert the percent to a decimal first.

65% becomes 0.65

We multiply 12(0.65)=7.8.

The sale price is $7.80
