when you add a positive number by a negative its like saying that number subtracted by the negative number.. Using your problem as an example you would turn 6+ - 6 into 6 - 6

so your answer would be 0.


If we had a different equation like 5 + -3 you would turn that into 5 - 3 and it would be 2. So 5 + -3 = 2
