Explanation:

7 is the numerator and 8 the denominator. Use the division method learned in Y5.

It is obvious that we won't be able to use 1 or more as 7 is less than 8.

Thus we will add a point. This will give the 7 a .0 next to it. We treat this '7.0' as 70 and divide by 8. The answer will be 8 and 6 will remain.

You can add a 1 0 again making it 60 and dividing again by 8. This will continue on until you finally get .875.
