Sound generalization: a broad statement or idea that applies to a lot of people or situations. For example, when you make a general statement without details about what you see or hear.

Oversimplification: a simplification of something to such an extent that a distorted impression is given.

Oversimplification is basically generalizing to a point where the information is distorted due to someone leaving out vital information that should not be left out when generalizing.
