So in order to these questions. You must know the speed rate, in miles that Toby drove his car PER hour.
So first, set up a proportion based on the information that is given in which it will be:
600:12
You take that ratio and divide the number of miles driven by 12 hours to find the speed rate, in miles driven in 1 hour.
Divide 600 by 12 and you will get 50 miles per hour or 50:1
The ratio as a fraction would be 50/1
For the second one, you continue what you did in number 1 and divide both numbers by 1, which is the bottom number(I’m not sure for the second question but I think this is how you do it. If I’m wrong, then please correct me).
For the part to 1 ratio you label the ratio like this:
50=miles per hour
1=hour
So you wrote down for the third question 50:1 and label the 50 and the one just like I have given to you above.
And for the 4th question,
Ratio- a relationship between two numbers which indicates how many times the first number contains the second.
Here’s an example so that you can understand better:
See the word problem you just did, you have found the ratio of miles to hours. Since Toby drove 50 miles in one hour it would be 50:1.
Hope this helps. :)
