18° and 72°

Explanation:

let x be the measure of one angle then the other is 3x + 18

The sum of the 2 complementary angles = 90°, hence

x + 3x + 18 = 90

4x + 18 = 90 ( subtract 18 from both sides )

4x = 72 ( divide both sides by 4 )

x = 18

the 2 angles are 18° and (3 × 18 ) + 18 = 72°
