Using traditional methods, it takes 94 hours to receive a basic driving license. A new license training method using Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) has been proposed. A researcher used the technique with 40 students and observed that they had a mean of 95 hours. Assume the standard deviation is known to be 3. A level of significance of 0.02 will be used to determine if the technique performs differently than the traditional method. Find the value of the test statistic. Round your answer to 2 decimal places. Enter the value of the test statistic

Answer: the value of the test statistic is 2.11

Explanation:

Given that;

sample mean x" = 95

standard deviation σ = 3

sample size n = 40

Null hypothesis H₀ : μ = 94

Alternative hypothesis H₁ : μ ≠ 94

Level of significance ∝ = 0.02

Test statistic value

z = (x" - μ) / ( σ/√n)

we substitute

z = (95 - 94) / ( 3/√40)

z = 1 / 0.4743

z = 2.11

Therefore, the value of the test statistic is 2.11
